Beas Kund Trek Manali

The trek to Beas Kund is one of the most beautiful short trek in Himachal Pradesh. Starting from Manali, this trek winds through the famous Solang Valley. Solang valley is famous for its ski slopes & Para gliding. This beautiful valley is just 13 Kms from Manali and the trek starts from the Old Manali village. The trail goes on a ridge high over the river Beas and by passes a couple of old villages. Solang Valley itself offers some spectacular views of the famous peaks in the Kullu valley. Our destination is the Beas Kund a small glaciated lake and the source of the River Beas. On this trek you will see amazing views of lush green meadows,glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks. The trail goes via Dhundi and Bakarthach to enter the Beas Kund glacier, the birthplace of the River Beas.This is an enjoyable and Moderate level trek. It is recommended for both beginners as well as experienced. Beas Kund trek gives you the chance to cross mountains and travel to the source of the Beas River. At the beginning of its course, it splits into numerous streams some of which are formed by the melting of glaciers. Other small tributaries of the parent stream arise from a small yet spellbinding alpine lake. Take some rest when you reach Manali, and make sure to take a trip to some of its nearby tourist attractions. The following morning, travel along the Beas River to the point, where the Rohtang Tunnel begins. De-board your vehicle here and travel on foot to your campsite in Dhundi. You begin Beas Kund trekking from here, and negotiate a rigorous and long ascent to the camping spot of Bakartach. The following leg of tour is lengthy, rigorous and scenically amazing. Making your way to the lake, you will come across many enchanting scenes, which you should take lots of photos of. After about five hours of keeping on the path, the Beas Kund trek package will finally bring you to the pond, and then back to Bakartach. The final phase of your excursion involves hiking down to Dhundi and then driving to Manali.

This is a very popular trek in the Manali region and provides possibly the best introduction to alpine mountainscape, for the first time trekker. This easy - moderate trek to the enchanting Beas Kund, which is a glacial tarn and is the source of the river Beas, takes one along the beautiful upper Solang valley, through forests of spruce and silver oak to alpine meadows where the nomadic Gaddi folk graze their sheep and finally to the foot of high summits such as the majestic Hanuman Tibba (5,930 Mts.), Friendship, Shitidhar and Manali peak. A splendid valley between Manali and Kothi, it also offers views of the glaciers and snow-capped mountain peaks. The trail then goes via Dhundi and Bakartach to enter the Beas Kund glacier, the birthplace of the River Beas. The trek offers a great degree of contrast during the journey. One can spend hours during the walk, interacting with the local folks, exploring Alpine Flowers or walking on the moraine. The trek also provides magnificent views of the lofty Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar range of mountains.

This is a partially do-it-yourself style outdoor trip and guests are required to trek with backpacks/rucksack with their personal luggage. All the camping gear and rations is transferred by our team of porters.
